Featuring 4 bonus tracks, the legendary Ritchie Valens, during his short life, combined various musical genres to create his own unique style. His classic rocker "La Bamba" had a lasting impact on rock & roll. The song was a high-energy reworking of an old Mexican wedding song that Valens had learned from his cousin. With "La Bamba," Ritchie put a rock & roll spin on the spirited folk tune, adding garage-rock riffing and a raw, enthusiastic solo. In essence, he created Latino rock with this two-minute rock & roll classic, which foreshadowed garage-rock, frat-rock, and punk-rock with its driving simplicity. Ironically, "La Bamba" was the B-side of "Donna," a dedication to Valens' girlfriend that reached number 2 on Billboard's singles chart. Although "La Bamba" also charted, it only made it to number 22. This double-sided hit stands as one of the greatest rock & roll singles of the Fifties.
